Square Overlays 2
Here is a second set of square overlays which can be used in layers or alone for making patterned papers.

Square Overlays 1
Here is another set of 5 overlays similar to the circle overlay set. I am still pondering whether I should go with a Premium 4shared account ( to make instant downloads available to everyone) or some other file sharing service. None of the services seem to be the best or even better. For every comment about someone liking a service, I've gotten an equal comment that another person hates that service (or that the service infected their computer with malware). So, I'm still undecided. Any more opinions?

Circle & Line Overlays
I have been really busy and haven't had much time to do a lot of designing, but I've been in a mood to make overlays. Here is a set of six transparent overlays.

Edge Overlays 3
Here is another set of edge overlays. I wanted to try some different brush settings and this is what I ended up with.

Edge Overlays 2
I always seem to have way too many design projects on my docket and the list only seems to be getting longer, rather than shorter. I have several tutorials in the works, some scripts, some actions and instead of working on them, I made more edge overlays because it was fun. I also discovered that it was not possible to make edge overlays on my laptop. I kept running out of RAM. Sniff, so sad. My tutorial only works on my desktop with its spiffy NEW-ish RAM. Again, thanks to all the people out there who helped me get this RAM. It keeps me designing and creating.
I hope that people can use these overlays and if you do, I'd love it if you could share your creations with me.

Edge Overlays
Here is a set of 6 overlays that I made using my edge overlay tutorial. I hope that people can use them.
Easy Edge Overlays
This tutorial will show you a fast technique for make an edge overlay in Photoshop that does not require any artistic talent.
1. Open up a new canvas the size of the overlay. Mine is 3600 pixels by 3600 pixels.
2. Select the rectangle tool and choose Paths. Click the arrow next to the Shape Tool icon to activate the settings menu and select Fixed Size. Set the width and height to the size of the canvas. Make sure From Center is checked.
3. Click the center of the canvas. It may be necessary to enable rulers to determine the exact center.
4. Select a color for your overlay. Make it your foreground color.
5. Select a brush for your overlay. Play around with the settings to obtain a pleasing pattern.
6. Go to the path menu and select Stroke Path with brush.
7. Repeat this action, if necessary, to get a nice edge. Here is a grunge edge that I made using a grunge brush, and repeating the stroke 3 times with different blend modes.

Egg-citement Overlays
I made these overlays for my Egg-citement kit. You can either use them as traditional overlays or follow my coloring an overlay tutorial to make them multi-colored. I have left them as transparent PNGs so it should be easy to color them. The papers shown in the preview are part of my Egg-citement kit.

Egg Overlay and Computer News
I made this very simple egg overlay as a teaser to get people to come and read about my computer woes. So, about a month and a half ago, the RAM in the computer I was using started to fail. Intermittently, it seems to stop working and my computer slows down a lot until nothing happens. After 3 weeks, I got a hand-me-down laptop to use until I could afford to buy RAM for my original computer. Three days ago, the graphics card in the laptop went belly up. So, I have a very, very old laptop from 1998 or 1999 that still works. It has 64 MB of RAM. It can run PSP as long as the graphics are very small. Scrap-size graphics take a long time to render. Photoshop CS3 or CS4 does not run on that laptop. I do not appear to have enough RAM. Photoshop 5.5 runs, but I doubt anyone wants tutorials for Photoshop 5.5. The upshot of all these problems is that it will be even longer until I am back to writing tutorials or doing anything else graphically-related.

Heart Overlays
I made these overlays when I was working on my seamless heart overlay tutorial, but I couldn't make the preview without my computer seizing up. My computer behaved well enough today that I could get it done. The preview is very dull, but at least it is a preview. I really wanted to share these overlays before Valentine's Day so that people could use them.

Funkadelic Paisley Overlay

I made this overlay using Scrapping Cop's Paisley Dingbat font. Her terms of use have been included in the zip file. I used this overlay to make papers for my part of the Funkadelic blog train. Those papers were then used to make some of the alphas. I thought that other people might also enjoy using it so I am posting it as a pre-train freebie.

Pawprint Overlay
I get mopey from time to time and wonder if anyone is using the scripts, designer tools, or kits that I put up on this blog. I have very flexible terms of use because my main joy after sharing is seeing people use my stuff. If people could be so kind as to share how they have used anything from my blog with me, I would be very grateful. You can find my email at the end of the entry about the pixel pusher.

I'm mucking around with pre-made designer preview templates. Here is a paper overlay for Luv My Pets.

Home Improvement
This month, the theme for Scrap Kit Challenge was Home Improvement. I wasn't extremely inspired by the theme, so my contribution to the mega-kit is very small.

This kit comes with:
4 papers
2 keyhole frames
2 seamless tiles
8 flathead screw brads
4 alphas
2 seamless tiles
The kit has the following designer resource add-ons:
1 overlay
2 cabinet templates (in PSD format)
1 Screw Script (for PSP), see next post for link.

I forgot to write it into the previews, but both the screw script and the overlay are commercial use ok.
Some members of the group have posted their kits to their blogs. Take a ride on the train to snag the pieces of the kit. As always, some designers may have more than one part to their kit, so be sure to look around their blog before moving on to the next stop.

Family Tree Papers

Family Tree has 7 papers and 1 overlay. The papers are released under my usual Creative Commons license, but the overlay is commercial use ok. The elements for Family Tree will be posted separately with the Scrap Kit Challenge blog train links. These links will be posted April 3rd.

Unryu Papers

These unryu papers are made by Humbug Graphics Galore and licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 United States License.
The white unryu paper can be used as a mask or an overlay and is licensed separately under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License. This means it is commercial use ok.
I suppose you can ignore the license, too.
I made the preview using Mura Meister's Stripe of Cylinder and I love it. What a great way to make a rolled paper preview.
