Political Statement

I usually like to keep my political views separate from my digital creations, but I listened to Sarah Palin decry the wastefulness of fruit fly research today. I yelled at the television when John McCain bashed bear genetics. I yelled at the television when John McCain attacked the Adler Planetarium for needing a new star projector. I don't believe that the Republican ticket believes in science or wants to support scientific research. However, attacking the work horse of the genetic community, Drosophila melangaster, is too much. After hearing Sarah Palin mock fruit fly research and call it a waste of money while simultaneously declaring that understanding autism needed more funding, I felt a need to state just how much I dislike Sarah Palin and the hypocrisy of declaring that research which has produced understanding of autism is pork and doesn't deserve to be funded. Do not attack the fruit fly. The fruit fly is our friend. If we didn't have the fruit fly, we'd be cutting up babies to figure out these scientific truths.

Four years ago, I feared that the economy would be ruined if Bush was re-elected. My fears have been realized. If Sarah Palin should become Vice President, I fear that scientific progress will come to a halt in the United States.

Not So Spooky

Since Halloween is Friday, I wanted to try my hand at a Halloween-themed kit. I don't think I have the hang of scrap kits yet. I like the ribbon and the ric rac, but the papers are ho hum. This kit comes with:

6 papers,
1 tile,
2 brads,
9 ribbons,
6 ric rac,
1 alpha

The kit zip contains everything except the alpha.

Psychedelic Set #1

I made a set of 26 chipboard alphas. The alphas are listed in mostly in the same order as the preview so you can download only the ones you like. There is a complete set of capitals in each zip file.

On the Road, part 3

Ok, here is the last part of On the Road. It is two separate files. One for the alpha and one for the Route 66 signs.

If you want the first alpha in this set as separate images, it is available here.

On the Road, part 2

I checked in tonight to post the next in this series and there are more comments in the Great Experiment. At this point, it seems like people prefer individual images. So, I will provide the next alpha as a zip file. I already chop up the letters and make a zip file for the people in my alpha collecting group, so providing it for people who scrap means less work than having to upload the png file, too! I guess opinions could always swing the other way, so stay tuned. Click on the image to get the alpha. Come back tomorrow to get the last alpha and the Route 66 signs.

On the Road, part 1

From the lack of response to the great experiment, I must conclude that most people like their alphas as a single sheet. There are three alphas that are a part of this kit. I will be posting each png file separately. You can get the first PNG here. Come back tomorrow to get the next file.

EDIT: This alpha is now available in as individual images in a zip file.

A Great Experiment

I have received a complaint about my alphabets. I have been told that scrappers do not like the letters as individual files, but would rather have them as a single image. So, I have decided to conduct an experiment to see if this is true or if this is an isolated incident. I am offering up my next alpha as a single PNG file. If you hate this idea, then please leave a comment. If too few people will respond, then I will assume that it is indeed true, scrappers want alphas as a single image and stop chopping up my alphabets.

So, let the experiment begin. Get the alpha here. You can use it with the Home Baked Traditions Kit.

Please leave your opinion about single image versus individual letters here in the blog and not at 4shared.

Home Baked Traditions Alpha

Here is the alpha that goes with Home Baked Traditions. There is a complete set of letters for each color.

I had to wipe my drive because of a computer virus and I lost all my bookmarks, so I'm trying to recreate it all online. If you know of a good site for scrapping tutorials or freebies, then please leave a comment. Thanks for your help.

Home Baked Traditions

Here is the kit that I made for Scrap Kit Challenge this month. The theme was Home Baked Traditions. This kit includes:
  • 2 papers
  • 5 photo corners
  • 5 paperclips
  • 5 tags
  • 5 snowflake cookies
  • 5 frosting brads
  • 10 tiles
  • 1 ribbon
  • 3 word art

I've also discovered that I hate making previews. You would think that previews would be fun, but no, I like making the elements. The previews are annoying. So, if my previews are terrible, that is why. There is also an alpha, but that is a separate zip file.

Too Much Plaid

I'm still trying to learn how to make papers and elements. Here is a kit with 12 papers, 4 ribbons and 2 bows. It can be used with both pink and purple chipboard alphas. And, since I like alphas so much, I made another alpha for the kit, too!

Pink Chipboard

I made this alpha the same time I made the last one. Again, it wasn't of interest to alpha collectors, but I'm hoping that a scrapper can use it.

Purple Chipboard

Here is an orphan alpha that I made months ago while trying out Photoshop Actions. People who collect alphas were not interested in it, but perhaps some scrapper might find it useful.

Holiday Wreath

I made this wreath for the October SKC Challenge. Once again, it doesn't work for the monthly color palette, so I'm offering it up separately. I tried to set it up so that you can get the full size by clicking the picture, but if that doesn't work, then you can get it here.

Home Baked Traditions Add-On

I'm doing this quite backwards as I haven't posted the kit yet, but I'm posting an add-on. We haven't reached Week 3 in Scrap Kit Challenge, so I can't post my completed kit. The three sets of icing letters didn't match the color palette for Home Baked Traditions, so I'm calling this an alpha addon for those of you who might wish to use it anyways. You get Strawberry, Apple, and Pecan fillings. I will post the kit next week. The gingerbread man paper is also in this zip file.
